Swimmy House is a private residential house in the heart of Tokyo. And house is located off the busy main streets — behind the curtain of tall buildings. Normally, a house consists with spaces by arranging floors and walls. However, what is interesting about this house is that to dealt with what already there and new.
There were already several individualized rooms from the previous structure and by using them effectively; I was able to create a colony like boxed spaces, which harmonizes with surrounding neighbors. As seen from the exterior, trapezoid shaped rooms do not involve corridor, but the space continues like gallery space in a museum. As the space moves forward, also, the natural light and breeze slip into the room. Weaving perspective into the exterior of the house has given a result of blending well into the surrounding environment. It mimics as if like high-rise building or become as same scale as condos next door.
The house gives an impression of stream into the city smoothly without breaking or pausing eye movement. It blends well as part of the city of Tokyo, but still keeps its own independence — Swimmy House.
