Skodsborg Spa & Fitness in Copenhagen, Denmark by Henning Larsen ArchitectsDecember 16th, 2011 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Henning Larsen Architects The new Spa & Fitness in Skodsborg is based on the wish to create a beautiful and harmonious extension of the existing Skodsborg Health Centre. The white, cubic building features protruding volumes on the facade and roof representing present-day trends as well as the classical tradition of Skodsborg.
The central space of the building – the large pool area on the ground floor – comprises spa baths and pools in a unique and warm atmosphere. The large hydro spa is situated in the centre of the room surrounded by a series of adventurous tubs, baths and saunas on an elevated level. The pool area has access to the new garden and terrace towards the south where a variety of plants will create a sense of privacy around the jacuzzi and sunbathing areas.
The new gym and primary training facilities are located at level one. The large atrium in the middle of the building constitutes a visual connection between the pool area and gym. Level two comprises the more quiet and private facilities such as the yoga hall and test rooms. The yoga hall has a view of the tree crowns on the hill and the afternoon and evening sun.
