Article source: Kotaro Horiuchi Architecture The renovation of the museum in the park near the lake in Ichi- hara city, Chiba, Japan. Roofs are like if the strings were surrounding the existing building. These strings are connecting the roof of the exiting building, garden on the ground, and the lakeside. Moreover, the parts of them become the spaces to connect outside to inside and visitors can walk around them.
When visitors walk on these strings, they can see many scenes such as mountains, hill, lake and forest. And visitors can see the inside exhibition of the museum, kids playing on the garden, while several events, and people taking a rest in the cafe. Kotaro HORIUCHI was born in 1978 in Nagoya AICHI, JAPAN. He received a master degree in urbanism and architecture from graduate school of university,Tokyo JAPAN. In 2009 he established his own Paris-based practice, Tokyo and Nagoya practices, after gaining experience through world renowned architecture firms such as: DPA – Dominique Perrault Architecture (Paris, France), Mecanoo Architecten (Delft, The Netherlands), and PPAG – Popelka Poduschka Architekten (Vienna, Austria) from 2003 to 2009. Kotaro HORIUCHI’s architectural design firm – Kotaro Horiuchi Architecture- is headquartered in Nagoya AICHI, JAPAN, works on multiple projects of architecture, urban design and interior design around the world. He won Silver Award of JCD Design Award 2011.
