In the south of Portugal, in Lagos, a house has been designed on steep and difficult land, but with a stunning view over the west coast of the Algarve.  The strong sunshine coming from the west also determined the position and character of the house.

The architectural project is determined by technically developed solutions, using sustainable geothermal energy and integrated smart home systems.

The intentions of the project resulted in a contemporary design house connected to the site and the environment. However, the main objective was a house that seemed weightless.

The building was designed with the idea of lightness, and is gently placed on a base of apparent concrete, floating between two garden terraces and plains of water (pool and pond).  The roof garden, which is widely visible, accentuates this lightness.

Paradoxically, the steep slope of the land is balanced with a white horizontal shape floating over the surrounding area, looking out to sea.

Over a suspended concrete walkway, there is the entrance, hidden in a wall of black viroc.  This  is the upper floor.  There, can be understood the fluidity of the space containing the living room, kitchen and spacious area with a double height ceiling, looking down on a plains of water flowing over the water lilies made of concrete.  More privately, there are 3 bedrooms, all aligned and facing the sea, open to the light, but protected from the direct sun and also from the wind.
