Article source: Erik Moederscheim After a selection is MoederscheimMoonen Architects chosen as the design agency that provides for the new home of two football development in the Park Zestienhoven Rotterdam. Zestienhoven Park includes more than 1800 luxury homes located next to Rotterdam Airport and close to the existing park area within the new plan will be developed.
MOTION From the client got along MoederscheimMoonen Architects to design a building with a pavilion-like atmosphere. Located next to the airport and adjacent to the new park need to realize the design lightness and transparency. The design comes from the stacking of two functional areas. The canteen including board rooms and changing facilities and storage. The canteen is the design located on the floor which creates a beautiful view over the five newly constructed sports fields. To maintain contact with the ground level there is the design chosen the downstairs carpet dressing facilities with a natural slope. In this way, building a green appearance and function to the field side as the main lawn. The building is complemented with a generous overhanging semi-transparent roof. This roof binds both housed associations and fits the look of the airport and the desired pavilion-like appearance. The roof filters the sunlight during the day and glows in the evening as a lantern through the integration of LED lighting. So the building will be a beacon in the environment and also contribute to the social security of the region.
SUSTAINABILITY The face of the building are the semi-transparent roof and the green slope. Both aspects provide the building for particular aspects of sustainability. By the filtering of the light is sunlight, and thus unnecessary heating of the building, is avoided. The green slope allows for natural insulation of the building. Also characterized by the building material choices and location of features that improve the containment of operating expenses and benefit.
PROCESS / THIRD PARTY COOPERATION The design has been the architect of the spindle between multiple parties. The client was two services of the municipality of Rotterdam; service Sport and Recreation and Urban Planning and Housing. Both formulated their own ambitions for the project. MoederscheimMoonen Architects has been able to the aesthetic requirements of Town Planning to associations with the practical and budgetary requirements of Sport and Recreation. In this situation also both associations (end users) a prominent role. Their specific needs and ideas include deciding factor in the spatial layout of the building. It is in this case a pair of football with a completely different agenda: a Saturday and Sunday Association. This combination in a building provides various stocking points in the building. For each association to provide enough room came MoederscheimMoonen in consultation with the associations, an optimal model in which both can retain their identity and canteen on the top floor and basement levels can benefit from the shared locker rooms. This efficient solution made the project financially feasible as well porgrammatisch.
