This project is Helhetshus´s first own developed, housing project. The goal was to build 8 houses that felt exclusive regarding architecture and design, yet affordable. The site is located in Floda, 25 kilometers northeast of Gothenburg, Sweden. It´s a clearing on a hillside with large oak trees and a beautiful view of lake Sävelången. By using the existing conditions of the site and placing the houses halfway over the edge of the hillside; each house got a nice view towards the lake and at the same time it created more space on the sunny side of the plot towards southwest. The boomerang-shaped building leaves an open space towards the street and a more secluded garden space south of the building witch is maximised by placing the buildings as far north as possible on each plot.

To spare the natural slope of the site, half of the house rest on pillars, leaving the ground beneth almost untuched and at the same time giving the building volume a dramatic expression. The roof ridge also follow this ground break witch makes the roof hight lower towards the ends where the building meet the surroundings. The roof of the building is a green roof covered with Sedum that not only looks great it also helps the water treatment of the area. Sedum does not grow larger than it is when delivered and it requires no maintanace.

The house comes in 4 different sizes: 127 m2 or 141 m2 groundfloor area, with or without a loft of 45m2. Each house has the same type of carport/store-unit that is connected to the house with a light roof, forming a nice covered space in front of the main entrance. The plan of the house is quite rational with a node or functional space connected to entrance, featuring laundry room connected to the kitchen, vertical communication and storage space. This node separates the private area with bed rooms and bathroom from the more public area, living room and kitchen. The living room and dining room has double ceiling hight and they are visually connected to the loft floor.

All along the south facade there is corridor that is connected to the outside terrace-walkway that leeds up to a larger terrace outside the dining area. This terrace and the walkway are sheltered by a light roof. You can access the walkway on several places from the indoor corridor. The inside of the exterior walls in the corridor, living room and dining room area is cladded with a white wood panel. The building has a wood construction with walls 350 mm thick. This along with extra insulated slab and roof make it a well insulated, low energy house. With the heat-exchanging system the total energy consumption is less than 10.000 kWh/Year.
