Article source: VA studio The outer look of this patch of territory, still showing signs of rural traits, is somehow maintained by making slight corrections along the wall and by putting a new set of site access gates, that will fully preserve which is already standing and assure that it fits the surroundings. The projects’ concept had urban and landscape integration thoroughly into account – it was intended to give the structure a contemporary look, intentionally contrasting with the rustic granite walls.  Image Courtesy Alberto Plácido This kind of setting encourages indoor living – it focuses more on life around recreation spaces. This way a more intimate relationship is developed with the inner space of the structure, moving away from the surrounding urban chaos. The volumetric shape was taken from a geometric form implanted on the ground – camouflaged by the walls and existing trees and vegetation – and proposed in conformity with the site accesses. In course of the project the volume was subtracted, thus creating interior yards, according to project settings. The result of both functional and architectural design is a pure dance of volumetric, leveling and openings which altogether create a sense of motion while indoors or outdoors.
