Article source: Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios In 2004, Worcestershire County Council and the University of Worcester formed a new partnership with a view to deliver a joint Library and History Centre; a successful bid for PFI credits was submitted in March 2005. The project was formally launched to the market in early 2007 and three bidders were selected to commence a Competitive Dialogue process in October 2007.
The Hive has come out of a groundbreaking partnership development to create a fully integrated public and university library, which is completely new to the UK and highly innovative internationally. The Hive also includes the county archives and record office, a local history centre, the county’s archaeology service and a multi-agency customer service centre. The Hive is a cultural, learning and information centre of excellence promoting lifelong learning, engendering social inclusion and raising aspirations in the broadest sense for the whole community, regardless of age, background, or ability.
