Article source: Aude Borromée Architecte & Antoine Weygand Architect On a plof of 3.80m*6m in a dead en in Paris we imagined a project made out of verticality and transparency while respecting urbanistic rules and integration in this quiet country side like place. After demolition of the existing small house we had to consolidate the underground quarry and we constructed a house of 10m high with very strong positions in terms of the way it was built, the functional aspect, the relationships between inside & outside and the esthetic ideas :  Image Courtesy Laurent Gueneau
 Image Courtesy Laurent Gueneau ‐ Prefabrication and the use of few materials (steel, aluminum, glass & glass blocks, concrete; wood) but with very thorough and detailed drawings. ‐ An internal organization where levels down (underground with light & ventilation; street level and level one) are made to work and levels higher (level two and three) are for the living and sleeping. The low levels are linked by a triple free height and are more in contact with the street whereas the levels up are more related to the rear and connected to small terraces that can be completely opened. The last level (bedroom and bathrom) is even accessed by an exterior stair as if we were not in Paris anymore .. In this last level we can imagine bathing almost outside !  Image Courtesy Laurent Gueneau ‐A graphism that plays with lines & angles in the drawing of the facade as well as in the stairs (folded steel), the lifelines and also in the way the various wood panels are assembled on the walls and separated by shadow gaps. ‐ The use of the colors to make space bigger, create different atmospheres according to the levels. Low levels follow the shades of the facade (burgundy, red, purple) and high levels are more in the blue green colors but at each level the main colors is declined in three different shades on the walls panels.  Image Courtesy Laurent Gueneau The whole story of this project is to be understood through those five levels; their spatial, functional and esthetic relationships and the sequence of atmospheres. Architecture and interior design are completely linked including those stairs that may be used to seat, the lifelines on which you can lean on while talking and also with the customized drawings of the kitchen and bathroom work surface made of folded steel.
