Community School Reigerlaan Eindhoven aims to be the new name for school where several functions will be housed. Currently, the building is only in use as a elementary school. The existing buildings on the site consists of a monumental building and an outbuilding (nursery school) plus temporary units with 6 classrooms. The main building and outbuilding are registered as national monument, dating from 1915 and 1927 respectively.
In 1933 the building is extended at the rear and in 1960 and 1980 enhancements were made at the rear again. In 2002 the building had to be restored after an attic fire. With the realization of the multifaceted community school, users will have a number of new facilities under one roof, these features reinforce each other because the users work together and utilize each other’s space as much as possible. Elementary School Salto Reigerlaan is the main user of the new community school. Currently there are 18 teaching groups. The total size, existing and new, should be suitable for a maximum of 19 teaching groups. The 6 prefab classrooms that are currently on site are to be replaced and included in the new expansion. The expansion will take place on the site. The program of the community school Reigerlaan exists of an elementary school, daycare center, after school care, preschool and gymnasium.
