Article source: Filip M. Popovic New Belgrade represents a part of the city built on principles of CIAM agreement, in the spirit of Le Corbuisier. It is also a simbol of old Yugoslavia. On the foundations of never finished Museum of the Revolution of Yugoslav people, a Cultural Center for the former Republics of Yugoslavia has grown. With places for art, music, literature, movies and food, it will host making new ties between people who have been separated by war and politics.
The basement of the old museum provides a lot of exhibition space with a cinema, shop and a cafe. The eastern side was excavated to provide a slightly sloped plaza that would lead visitors into center. Also small atriums were made by making holes, to provide natural light and plants into former basement. Small towers provide space for administration and vertical communication, while library, workshops and restaurant are set in cantilevered structures. Contact Filip M. Popovic
