Andrés Ojeda architects created this house extension overlooking lake Leman in Geneva. The extension was built to accommodate a young couple within the same plot of an existing mediterranean style villa. The architects built two rectangular volumes to both sides of the back of the house and joined them internally to create a meandering serpent like plan to the new apartment. The new build is accessed by the back of the original house through a pathway and a courtyard, giving privacy to both homes.

The living room enjoys an amazing view of the lake and of the back garden trees, to maximize this the architect broke the roof in two to permit a tall window to the back and a lower one to the distant lake view. This break also brings more natural light to the spaces and creates a difference in heights. Natural light was a very important element in the project. Used as a theme throughout the house with skylights and courtyards even in the main bathroom where a private courtyard with an olive tree lights the bath.
