diederendirrix designed 80 dwellings, spread over five islands, for an urban expansion district in den Bosch. The houses were developed as a sample project for sustainable building with, amongst other things, an EPC of 0.48. Two types of houses consisting of two storeys plus an upper extension exist.

All houses have a garden which fronts the water. A conscious choice of conformity in shape, colour and material has been made. The only exceptions to this regularity are the sand coloured wooden parts and glass frontage. The abstract sculptural form, rectangular layout of the islands and predominantly black facades and garden walls bring rhythm and peace to an otherwise rather haphazardly organized district.
