Starting from the intent to upgrade the existing backside of an existing building and the desire to cluster all youth activities in the municipal community of Kortenberg, the choice was made to build a new youth center above the existing storage spaces of the cultural center Columba. This location was also much better situated than the current location of the youth center.

The new building will not be an extension of the existing architecture but it will give new meaning to the building and provide an  answer to all issues and requirements of the 21st century.

This will occur in terms of the following aspects; insulation-technical, possibility to reuse all building materials, ecological, sustainability, limited use of drinking water during construction, … Therefore it will not only give new impulses to this part of the public domain but also to the client’s view on her sustainable buildings patrimony. The building will be tailored 110% to the youth and will provide space for good and free self-development.
