It was the will of the Client to make a beauty center with a strong communicative impact, in which the user could immediately receive a message of efficiency, timeliness and sophistication. The container in which we would have to work is within a historic restricted building. The Superintendence has been an obstacle not easily pass. The volume in question is located on the first floor of an extension built in the early decades of the last century, in a noble palace in Rome.

The design idea comes from the schematic drawing of the shape of the eye, organ of vision that more than any other sense connects us to reality in all its diversity. The eye gives us the perception of space and colors that depict him. In a broad sense the concept of Aesthetics led us to formulate, in this regard, a plan that originate by the physiognomy of an eye.

Physicality, a sense of appearing and show oneself, were topics that have dictated the lines of the composition of the work. Everything in it can refer to anthropomorphic and fluid forms in which the angles forces lash visual rays that frame accentuated perspectives, which provide the viewer diversified and sudden emotional cues.

Almost a kaleidoscope of perceptual and visual emotions create in the viewer a sense of wonder and satisfied admiration at the same time. The triangular volume in which is located the staircase (also triangular), imagine, in the first draft of the project,  the design of the terminal part of the eye where are the bags tear.

The intent was to remove the existing staircase and make an elliptical shape, as well as the two small swellings of the lacrimal sacs. Releasing the walls from the shape of the staircase, we wanted to make on the right wall (more than nine meters high), an artistic composition in relief on which water could run the to grazing, and fall to cascade from the top floor, after crossing diagonally throughout the environment, below the walkway of glass.

This idea was abandoned when the Superintendence has ordered not to touch any existing structure. Hence the idea of changing the balustrade and still treat the main wall of the staircase with an artistic work, surely motivated by our recommendations. This large area has been interpreted as an ironic exhibition record of different textures. The insistence of the Client to get into the center finishing of spotted skins, triggered in me a ironic and mocking reactivity, which led to characterize some very representative finishes animalières.

The chromatic wall on the right side of the staircase, resulting of dynamic intersection of oblique lines, have been interpreted with games of complementary colors, for bringing out the most aggressive and visual impact. Heaven, earth, sun, animal skins, are proposals to subjective interpretation.

On the ground floor we find the reception. On the first floor: waiting, administration, hair-dresser, medical treatments, tanning treatments, beauty treatments, color therapy, aromatherapy. The whole structure is realized with Knauf technology positioned on floating floor, so it can eventually be removed without large energy expenditure, leaving  the container intact.

Particular attention was given to lighting fixtures, some of which are standard series  while others are custom-made. The guest bathroom is enclosed in three cylinders with custom textures always animalières. The sign of the walkway light, glass thick back-lit, has strengthened by the above continuous luminous sign, placed in the ceiling. Optical fibers and optical luminescence between colored scores, characterize the staircase.
