Article source: ARCMAIS Architecture Given the Customer’s request, we designed a Preliminary Study for adequacy, rehabilitation and construction of “School 2027” (Public-Private Partnership) for the District of Maianga in Angola’s capital Luanda. The school will be located on a flat terrain, with an area of about 5 square meters, given the proposed Program of Architectural Renovation of space. Following this proposal, we adopt as a basic premise the initial use of the central space not yet occupied for subsequent demolition of existing blocks, formerly, without interfering with the normal course of lessons.
With three floors, were allocated Primary Education (6-11 years) and Secondary Education 1st and 2nd cycles (12 to 14 and 15 to 18 years). In this block, was thought to partial separation by age, by age to be placed on each floor of the school, ie the smaller the 1st floor and so forth, the three-story building. In this block we create an inner space that gives access to all the dependencies through the movement and ramps and integrated into future outdoor patio and sports court. In the covered patio space is enough to house students in recreational time even on rainy days and for complementary activities of school education. Sporting activities and festivities that require greater public presence were planned to take place in both sports court, as in Patio Covered, which includes two types of access: access internal school events and for external access with ticket positioned to service any games or parties attended by family members and others in the community. Ground Floor, utilization therefore provides a great space for Multiple Use, which may harbor Exhibition of Works School, Cultural, Scientific shows, etc.. Top floor with access via side ramps, stairs or elevators, are located the other rooms and laboratories. It also provided a system for reusing stormwater. These are taken directly from the roofs and tanks through targeted for embedded conductors, with filtration system to be made in future water project in line with the current technical standards, including not only reuse for irrigation of landscaping, but also to reuse the system toilets discharge. In order to meet basic needs for accessibility, both for children and adults with limited mobility, it was thought from the beginning in the eventual elimination of architectural barriers, with minimal use of stairs and ramps that allow access to the upper floors minimizing costs with elevators, which were deployed to transport more people with special needs. Also the stairs were put to the minimum level necessary to further integrate people and students in the use of ramps. In order to minimize energy costs, made up the prediction deployment of solar collectors on every rooftop of the school, to complement the needs of energy consumption as well as for possible uses of heated water in the hydraulic system. Also provided is an innovative use of solar energy system for use in air-conditioning, depending only on confirmation Brazilian company pioneered this system and whose equipment is in the final testing phase and may be applied in this endeavor. Such a system would minimize costs significantly energy consumption, providing thermal comfort and functional environment in indoor environments, as required for an excellent achievement and school performance that longs for that school. Aside from this technology, the school was designed to work with the best possible natural ventilation and lighting, adequate fresh air for energy savings and also at different periods of climate or different times of operation. In this sense too, were created “brise-soleil” external, whose location will protect the influx of light and solar heat, reducing cooling costs and consequently energy as well as providing greater environmental comfort of the School premises. With controlled access in each sector, the School was also thought to provide security both learners and tranquility for faculty and staff in performing their duties. Contact ARCMAIS Architecture
