The Clearing House is an institution of the SOS-Kinderdorf. Since 2001 this special place serves as accommodation, support and consultancy to minor refugees. The comprehensive restoration in 2012 with its construction and facade design reflects the idea of the SOS Kinderdörfer.
The reality of young people is about acceptance, assistance, support, care, integration, structure and protection. Weaving is one of the crafts, which can be found all around the world. Attributes such as lightness, simplicity, strength go along with economy, ecology and frugality of resources.

In this spirit the old facade elements were exchanged to high-insulation prefabricated wooden structural elements. A wattle work of rock panel boards protects these elements against weather and vandalism. From now on open perspectives and functional room connections lighten up the interior. White OSB panels on the walls set a contrast to the existing plastering structure.

For individual retreat sleeping furniture was designed and built out of the same strong material.
Even the old facade of uninsulated concrete slab parts was recycled. These elements are now used for terrace surface and benches.
