ESPLAI’ FOR ELDERLY IN GIRONA, Spain by MIRAG

Article source: MIRAG
In 2010 a new ‘esplai’ was opened in Cristòfol Grober Street in Girona. It is a leisure centre for the elderly, composed of a common space and some auxiliary rooms: CiberCaixa, with IT equipment, 3 workshop rooms, and Cibercafè, with 8 computers.
A double false ceiling was created with big rectangular lamps placed in different heights that give a sense of unity to each space of the ‘esplai’. The glass surfaces of the second floor reflect the light so that these lamps are in fact duplicated. The ‘esplai’ is placed in the ground floor of an existing building.
