Article source: IAD Program Located in the hub of the capital Madrid, the building Castellana 36-38, one of the ship’s heritage buildings Mutua Madrileña main Spanish insurer, is currently undergoing a change in depth of its interior spaces and its facade. True to his research and environmental context, IAD proposes a revitalization of the architectural aesthetics of the building, the purpose of the Mutua Madrileña: make it reappear in the exclusive and iconic profile of the Castellana.  Image Courtesy © Mutua Madrileña Defined geometry of the building, marked in time offers a huge range of possibilities. A stunning architectural framework and yet very discreet, very functional. This geometric clarity, contrast, motion management, identity and plurality are the vectors of development of a project that aims to make a difference.  Image Courtesy © Mutua Madrileña In search of perfect homogeneity and to divide the scale again, make it more human, we find this duality between the glossy black that is in the common parts of the building renovated and, in contrast to the white lacquered glass, surface perfectly and geometrically designed to fragment space. The play of light, materials, penetrates the building system, more sophisticated but with the same strength, pampers poetic hybrid of a building, mutated … A collage, a seal lacquered plant and urban universe.  Image Courtesy © Mutua Madrileña Concept [ACTOR ECO-SENSITIVE] The building is a landmark, not for its architecture but because of its location, one joint at various scales. It is at first a block, stone axes angle between two city car: the biggest, the Castellana axis and perpendicular Spanish capital, a major flyovers across the avenue. Limit is then a generator of space between the bridge of Juan Bravo and his own dividing that created the very urban museum Outdoor sculptures, which include works by Chillida, Sirena Varada and El Encuentro, sculpture weighing 6 tons they remain suspended in the bridge structure. It is an evidence, this building has an urban responsibility  Image Courtesy © Mutua Madrileña It quickly raises the possible dialogue between all these elements of concrete bridge sculptures, urban system and the building: the park needs a tree! In addition to the vertical response, the plant response is necessary, offer a “Vertical urban park”, an actor eco-sensitive to forward current values and allow the dialogue, the reflection of the green line of trees Castellana. This is what this project proposes that green dress in an elegant glass fiber frame black.  Image Courtesy © Mutua Madrileña Eco-Tech Resolution [FAN SOLAR] The choice of this facade ECO-TECH has to do with all the existing elements of the building, currently proposed vertical blind panels on the facade of the building. We could not convince the recoating just as if it were a makeup vulgaris. It seemed essential to continue taking advantage of this area actively.  Image Courtesy © Mutua Madrileña It was proposed that this range tends to warp in the sun longer day to propose a larger area solar collection, responsible for producing the energy equivalent to that required to supply the building’s common spaces. With the objective of not harming the light entering the building, raised the idea of working with glass solar panels. The resulting image of repetition, reflection of the plates makes the building an event, a machine friendly, sustainable and useful.
