The construction of this characteristic villa in the forests around Naarden was finished recently. DENOLDERVLEUGELS is responsible for the design of the villa as well as the interior design and the garden design.

The main building has two levels and a thatched roof. The facade is layered by a plinth of masonry, a stucco midsection and a channel siding wooden top. The colour pallet is natural with a dark grey tone as contrast for the wooden window frames.

In the thatched roof a number of subtle detailed dormer windows add functionality to the attic level. All levels are accessible through a grand central staircase placed in an open space, visually connecting the different floors. The staircase section is very prominent in the facade and differentiates the main volume. Large windows allow beautiful cast of light in the house.

The main volume is further differentiated by an extension at the back of the house on top of which a roof terrace is situated. The terrace is accessible via double doors from the bedrooms. The terrace receives beautiful morning sunlight as well as evening sunlight to be enjoyed.

The kitchen facing the garden at the back of the house is recognized as a individual volume but is a continuation of the main volume and has its own thatched roof. The loungesection within the kitchenarea brings the large volume back to the human scale.

The appendix is built according to the style and materialisation of the main building. Human scale, differentiation and shifting of volumes are the basis for shaping this luxurious comfortable villa. They give the villa a pleasurable tension and contemporary character without disrupting the classical setting.
