Article source: Fernandes Arquitetos Associados Fernandes Arquitetos is in charge of the project for eight stations of the future Parangaba – Mucuripe Line of Fortaleza Metrô, usually known as Metrofor. The branch will have its tracing on surface and will be integrated to South Line – already in operation – at Parangaba Station.
This integration will make that, within the same space, there are “two” stops with different characteristics: the current Parangaba Station, belonging to south Line of Metrofor, and the “New” Parangaba Station, designed by Fernandes. The current stop is a concrete building, provided with boarding platforms in the sides. By its turn, the station designed by Fernandes will be raised type, exhibiting modern architecture and materials that provide transparency and lightness sensation. Both of them will be connected by an access that will lead to the central platform of “New Parangaba”. These interventions make Metrofor a project that has as its predominant characteristic the adaptation to local geography, which is expressed in the different typologies sketched for its lines. The stops designed by Fernandes Arquitetos, will be also provided with stations accessed by passageway, with a mezzanine that will lead to the central boarding platform. The stations will be also highlighted by the fact they favor the use of natural lighting, while presenting materials that will mitigate the impacts of high local temperatures.
