The Havelwerke are a place for originals since over a hundred years. On the site of a former prussian powder factory the users have always produced, collected, preserved, presented their goods. The tradition of this special place is now the studio’s guideline. Pott Architects developed a masterplan to design the industrial park homogeneously.

They design the Havelwerke as a retreat for people with passion: collectors, inventors, craftsmen, artists. Therefore our masterplan for the 25,000 square meter business park offers plenty of creative space. Pott Architects build over 12,000 square meters floor space in form of protected collectors’ depots, spacious factory buildings, office space and a private harbour – ideally located between the centre and surroundings Berlin.

6 halls of various sizes are currently being realized. All floors are column-free spaces with concrete truss structures. This makes them perfectly divisible and ensures optimized exposure through skylights. The already planned new collectors’ depots are functionally and aesthetically inspired by the historic factory buildings: Airy length and flexibility are their main features. Existing factories are integrated into the planning and supplemented by the new halls.

In the centre of the site stands the historic jewel of the Havelwerke. The heritage-listed brick building from the 19th century was formerly a factory for gunpowder. The buildings group – together with the listed powder factory – around a central square on historic ground plan: The new, representative entrance of the Havelwerke.

Ideal working conditions require individual service. From compact commercial units up to a whole new hall of about 4000 square meters Pott Architects take care precisely of the realization. The design and construction is a lively dialogue in close collaboration with the future users.
