Article source: Diederendirrix Architects The new housing estate De Beljaart is situated on the northwest edge of Dongen. We designed 59 ground-access single family dwellings for this location. These are divided amongst blocks containing between three and seven residential units. The roofs stretch out like a red landscape on the light brickwork of the blocks.
This image is further enhanced by the use of a continuous roof edging which flows, as one line, along roof guttering, dormers and side elevations. The maximum gutter height provided the departure point for the facade design. Materials and colours are mostly dictated by urban aesthetic planning regulations. The shape of the blocks is slightly staggered which helps to interrupt the length of the street view and create an interesting architectural perspective. Contact Diederendirrix Architects
