Article source: Herbertarchitekten herbertarchitekten are currently planning a boarding school for the Bildungs- und Technologiezentrum für Elektro- und Informationstechnik e.V. in Lauterbach, Germany . The new building replaces an existing building. A previously conducted feasibility study brought the result that the reconstruction and modernization of the existing building is not economical.
The new building houses 26 bed rooms, lounges and office spaces as well as an apartment for a caretaker. The aim was to summarize the space program in a simple cubic structure, with the advantage of lower heat losses and a reduced heating demand. In the basement are the foyer with the main entrance , offices, technical rooms and the apartment. The ground floor contains rooms for eating and leasure. An offset at the southeast corner gives in addition room for a covered outdoor area. The two upper floors each house 13 bedrooms. In the elevation , the building has a threefold division . On a massive basement rests the almost entirely glazed ground floor. Above hover the two residential floors . The square openings in the facade are deliberately in contrast to the post-and-beam façade on the ground floor. His heat requirement covers the building largely by environmental energy in the form of heat pump technology . In parts the building is artificially ventilated . The construction is in full swing. Completion is scheduled for mid-2015 . Contact Herbertarchitekten
