REFORMA INTEGRAL APARTAMENTO in PAMPLONA, Spain by IÑIGO ESPARZA arquitectoFebruary 23rd, 2014 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: IÑIGO ESPARZA arquitecto The project consist on the trasformation of a traditional flat, located in a 1950’s construction of the Expansion District of Pamplona, into a house for a young family. Starting from a compartimentalized and unpractical distribution, the renovation turned the appartment into an organized open-plan space where the day and night areas are clearly differentiated.
The living area is a multipurpose space that houses the entrance hall, dining room, living room and the kitchen all articulated with glass surfaces and specifically designed furniture. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms compounds the night area. The old gallery facing the interior courtyard joins the main bedroom containing part of the bathroom. Its glass enclosure brings light into the north-facing rooms and the spaces that looks onto the courtyard. As a unifying element, the project exhibits the concrete structure, which has been restored, along the whole dwelling. In order to support the intended clarity and spacial fluidity, the repertoire of materials is deliberately reduced and neutral. The partitions painted in white and a continuous flooring of wood cover the main rooms while bathrooms are tiled with dark stone. Within this austere philosophy, the furniture is designed adapting to the needs of the owners. A careful selection of old decoration pieces and modern elements designed in the 20th century complets the intervention. Contact IÑIGO ESPARZA arquitecto
