Article source: Arhitektura d.o.o. The apartment is located in a newly built row house in Ljubljana. Due to a smaller plot and greater density the houses were planned as two-storey living units. As a result there is a problem of small floor space.
The ground floor originally featured a living room. However, this is less useful from the user’s point of view so we decided to move the program of kitchen downstairs. Due to less floor space it first represented a problem, but we discovered additional storage space for kitchen under the staircase. The idea of the kitchen now connected nicely with outer atrium where it is also possible to move the dining table, creating a comfortable space for eating and socializing. On the first floor a big space opened up where living room was created, along with two children’s bedrooms. On the second floor we put the parents’ bedroom with bathroom, which opens up onto a rooftop terrace. The design of the apartment is modern, characterized by clean lines, the prevalent color is white with oak wood combination, which seeks to draw a parallel to the oak wooden flooring and inner staircase which was also decked in the same sort of wood.
