DEPARTMENTAL AND REGIONAL ARCHERY CENTRE in Chennevières-sur-Marne, France by ATELIER PHILEASJune 26th, 2014 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: ATELIER PHILEAS Urban Park The site hosting Chennevières-sur-Marne’s future archery centre is located in an area of low popluation density of high vegetation quality. This vegetation gives the site the feel of a town park, which we felt it was important to retain. The outer training field is treated as an integral part of the building. Its setting on the site is justified by the need to direct the shooting and the outdoor targets towards the north. The outdoor layouts, including a vegetated mound, are designed as an extension of the building.
The construction disappears behind the trees and the natural look of the site is preserved. The offices, glazed to their full height, enjoy a privileged view and setting among the trees. The assembly formed by the offices and services is treated as a line that becomes a signal of the centre’s activities. This line connects the mass of trees to the motion of the land created by the mound. Contact ATELIER PHILEAS
