Article source: OVA STUDIO LTD The challenge of this competition was to provide a combined car park for 1500 cars with exhibition and multi-functional areas. We decided to use an automated parking system which provided huge savings in terms of GFA and allowed us to present the cars as if exhibited in a giant “shop window”.
The exhibition areas are punched through the car storage areas and the inner workings of the “machine” become visible to all that visit manifested as part of thebuilding experience. Cars are handled by an automatic and computerised loading and storing machinery (Pallets) suppressing the need to drive in individual spaces (no exhaust fumes), increasing the GFA efficiency: conventional car park ratio of 20-23m2/car, Automated Parking 16.7m2/car. Customers are not allowed inside the storage (suppression of exit stairs and related security arrangements), the loading and retrieval of cars is at ground floor through the automated system. The system allows for increased Exhibition area (~2,200m2 vs. 900m2) for the same total GFA of 30,000m2. Key points:
