Article source: AT103 Located in one of the most important historical areas in Mexico City, on a narrow site (7.00 x 25.00 meters) that has an entrance to another site at the end, this house responds to the specific characteristics and legal constrains of its milieu. After different volumetric studies, one on solar impact determined that the house be transformed from one with a single-line body into an S-shaped one. The S shape allowed for the permeable area of the house to be distributed between two patios; it also generated, at the same time, an open area and light and ventilation inlets.
The proposal responds to a specific program for a four-member family, which is divided into two sets of wings: one public and the other one private. These wings are connected by the intersection of the house’s curves, which act as vertical and horizontal connections throughout the entire house. The public wing comprises the main access, service area, and a parking space in the basement. The main living room, the dining room and the studio are located in a space that has two different levels. The spaces in the private area are the backyard, the kitchen, two bedrooms, the master bedroom and the roof garden. Contact AT103
