Article source: UArchitects The construction of the sports centre Zaandam-Zuid in Zaanstad is located in the Poelenburg district of the city. The sports centre is used during the day by the adjacent practice schools, while in the evening and weekends it will facilitate the needs of the surrounding neighbourhood associations.
The change in the use between day and night is the basis of the concept. An entrance to the school on the one hand and on the other to the street has resulted in the structure of the design. The sports centre facilitates a variety of sports with the addition of a spectators seating area.Spectators can enjoy the social spaces of the first floor refreshments area, whilst watching the games in the main hall. Catering and sports are open to the street, so the activities are visible and in social terms contribute to the quality of life. Contact UArchitects
