Refurbishment of a traditional stone house in Portugal by Henrique Barros-GomesJanuary 28th, 2015 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Henrique Barros-Gomes An old, traditional stone house in northern Portugal will be completely renovated. The house, an ancient community oven in the well preserved center of a small village, will be transformed into a comfortable vacation residence, with a loft like main floor, where living, kitchen and dining areas will be located.
The extension includes a mezzanine to harbor the house’s intimate areas. A double height living room is also included in the intervention. The main focal element of the entire intervention is the customized stair-bench-table-fireplace, that sets all the rules for the construction. Besides the original granitic stone, typical from the region, materials will include wood, steel beams, micro cement, plaster and ceramic shingles. The courtyard will have a small garden, some trees, a stone pool and a wood deck. Contact Henrique Barros-Gomes
