K&K in Alpe di Siusi, Italy by noa* – network of architecture

noa* (network of architecture) add a cosy yet functional atmosphere to the new ski-rental and shop K&K located on the Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi, and outlines a comforting backdrop in the middle of the surrounding Alpine landscape.

The design of the interiors evolves along three contrasting materials: The warmth of the matured local spruce, the soft surfaces of the felt-fabric and the edgy metal furniture elements together aim to create a cosy and comfortable living room atmosphere.

Floor and ceiling, covered in dark felt, confine the room without restricting it; the anthracite colour makes the borders of the room not clearly visible, blurring edges and corners. The extensive felt area absorbs disorderliness and noisiness. Frames of matured timber “zone” the space and create functional areas for the ski rental, sale and fitting. The furniture is composed of a combination of matured timber and dark polished metal, and aims to combine a traditional character with a contemporary touch.

Fully glazed window panels allow a distinct glance for the passing crowd outdoors; the store itself gets exposed and becomes an integral part of the display window. Bespoke furniture pieces and all products on sale together create a sense of unity; color accents within the clean interiors are set by the colorful articles themselves. They are displayed like a work of art, sitting on metal shelves and inviting to be discovered and experienced.

noa* is the essential expression of a collaborative work-ethos: the young team of architects & designers, led by founders Lukas Rungger and Stefan Rier and based in Bolzano (Italy), explores and examines interdisciplinary methods of design, which continuously evolve depending on both nature and requirements of each project.

Teams are mixed temporarily to address imminent challenges and find innovative solutions. noa* serves as a stage (or platform) for architects, designers of interiors, graphics or fashion…as far as musicians and historians….with the collective aim to use the ressources of field specialists at its best.
