Toho Apartment Renovation in Fukuoka-city, Japan by Yusaku Matsuoka architects and associatesApril 8th, 2015 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Yusaku Matsuoka architects and associates This is a full renovation project for a room in a 1978-built apartment. From the window, a beautiful view of one of the Fukuoka sights, Ohori Park, can be seen. Water surfaces in the park reflect sunshine and change their expression throughout the day. The first design policy was a utilization of this scenic view.
The living/dining room design, in which switch-lines among each finish were intentionally placed slantwise on the walls, provides a rich expansion to the space. Both the special sheeting on the ceiling, and the various sizes and types of metallic panels on the walls are made with reflective materials, resulting in providing even expansionary views within the space. The attractive outdoor views and family members’ images are reflected on the ceiling and walls, creating original scenes that will never be the same, and add color to life. Pictures and such can be attached to the metallic panels with magnets. With unique printed materials, they are designed to resemble blooming flowers. The kitchen is open but things can be appropriately hidden away, so that it is user-friendly but has an aesthetic design. The interior is finished with glass for ease of cleaning, and for ensuring expansionary views. An anticum, where flowers or other items can be placed, is created in front of the living/dining room and kitchen, which serves as an empty space to add color to life. Bookshelves are designed along the upper part of the corridor. Beautiful views with various book covers in alignment are reflected on the ceiling. The entrance was designed with a duckboard and chair made of FRP grating, in consideration of women and the elderly. Tags: Fukuoka city, Japan Categories: Renovation, Residential, Room |
