This dwelling is located in N. Fthiotida, Central Greece on a steep and challenging site. The high point of the site was chosen as the main entrance providing the wow factor and uninterrupted views to the sea and beyond.
Through an oversized entrance, the focal point of this house is the sunken living room with fireplace across the infinity-edge swimming pool to the panoramic views across the sea. The double height ceiling creates a voluminous light filled atrium. The slightly elevated open-plan kitchen and dining is a natural division while freely communicating with the lounge, pool and water views.
A floating staircase cantilevered from the supporting wall provides access to the upper level and principal sleeping quarters. This floor comprises of the master bedroom and en-suite with freestanding bath and two additional bedrooms, both with en-suites and private balconies overlooking the pool and view.
On the lower level is an additional self-contained guest suite with direct access to the pool.
The focal point from all rooms is the infinity-edge pool, forming one with the sea.
The clever use of simple durable building materials such as natural stone, inside and out, seamlessly integrates the house to its natural environment.
The white and concrete grey hues, synonymous with traditional Greek homes create a subtle yet natural contrast to the tiered landscaped garden typical in the forest regions of Greece.
