 Image Courtesy © Chris Forsyth Beginning in the 60’s, the construction of the metro system was headed by Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau. To design the stations, Drapeau held a competition among Canadian architects choosing the best to design their own station. Each station was uniquely designed by an individual architect and art installations were commissioned on a station to station basis. The system is now comprised of 68 stations in total transporting upwards of 1 million passengers daily.
