Article source: Dirk Mayer Architects This renovation and extension of an old stone house on Madeira Island has been designed ecologically, changing the existing building only minimally and using sustainable materials for the extension. To stop humidity in the walls in contact with the earth behind the house, a new wall was built at a little distance, creating small patios behind the house bring natural light and ventilation to the ground floor.
