This project comprises the reconstruction of the attic by modifying the volume of the building.

We didn’t intend to cover the existing volume, thus the new attic redesigns the whole building and creates a brand new architecture.

The reconstruction is executed on the existing roof and it gives the building a great quality. We conceived the new roof by restricting and expanding the volume, and by adding some elements.

It is modeled on the existing plan and it is inserted into the existing space. We wanted to give the building a sense of unity, thus we added new windows and reconstructed the roof.

Each window is addressed towards a specific corner of the landscape. The windows have a twofold nature : the main ones are located near the terraces. Therefore, from the outside, they are not so standing out. The other windows are located in harmony with the existing ones. The element located on the roof gives way to the zenith lighting and enables ventilation.

We made various models in different scales in order to study the new volume.

The roof is clad in a light-grey pre-patinated Rheinzink coating.

We reflected upon the sense of unity of the building with its surroundings. We used alternatively white and green colours, both natural and artificial to show the contrast of the building with the wide surrounding garden.
