Rotterdam based cricket- and football club V.O.C. was in desperate need of extending their facilities after a ten year period of growth. Especially the amount of dressing rooms came short and besides that cricket facilities weren’t up to par with today’s international standards.

As the club has the ambition to host international cricket matches and provide the best facilities in the Netherlands to do so, extension of the existing facilities was an absolute must.

Given these circumstances the extension was situated close to the main cricket pitch, right next to the existing building. In this way a subtle ensemble of pavilion-like buildings seemingly comprise one new exciting entity, whilst remaining readable as a development over a time span of more than a decade. The facade of the new pavilion acts like a red scarf that binds the different functions together in an airy kind of way.

JAGERJANSSEN ARCHITECTS BNA

JagerJanssen embraces space. We enthusiasticly work on spatial assignments of divers nature, among which are private housing, large scale housing projects, feasibility studies and architectural visions. No two projects are the same, our architecture always is a logic outcome of time, context, dialog between client and architect and collaboration with third parties. We want to make architecture that is a counterweight to the complexity of contemporal society.
