Article source: KURYŁOWICZ & ASSOCIATES Sp. z o.o The project of the Town Hall of Wilanów District of the Capital City of Warsaw that was completed and opened in December 2014 is a continuation of the architectural and urban concept by studio Kuryłowicz & Associates, chosen as a result of a competition organized by the Municipality of Wilanow, and the decision was taken in June 2000. The construction began in 2002, was interrupted during the open core and shell construction phase for approx. 10 years. It was resumed in 2012 with the participation of another contractor.
A group of buildings of the Town Hall of Wilanów District of the Capital City of Warsaw consists of two buildings (the main and auxiliary one) situated on a common part of the underground (garage). Between the buildings at the ground level is a public square, partly covered by a roof of the main building with a reach of several metres. The main building features the auditorium facing the square, with a completely sliding facade on the ground level, allowing the audience to participate in the events taking place in the room, being both inside and outside the facility. The investment plot is triangular in shape and along its borders there were determined the building lines applicable in the local development plan. At the intersection of these lines, as a characteristic sign of the “Town Hall”, there is a clock tower. The intention of the project was to create a modern building open to residents, which should be a local government building, ensuring good contact with the democratically elected authorities, located in a privileged area in terms of urban planning, which will invite to joint meetings and events. The group of buildings of the Town Hall is the seat of the local government of Wilanów District and it is mainly dedicated to office functions (on the ground floor: Resident Service Department) and a complementary program: a multifunctional hall for 198 people, meeting rooms, wedding hall of the registry office, municipal police premises, a post-office division and health clinic for children. Town hall buildings are objects of four storeys above the ground with a technical floor located on the fourth floor, covered with a steel roof. The walls are made of the stone cladding, patinated copper sheet cladding and aluminum joinery. Category: Town Hall |
