A song blending ancient and modern melodies, a “canticle”: the brand-new residence in the heart of one of italy’s most fascinating medieval centers. A convenient, prestigious jumping-off point, in any season of the year, for exploring lucca and indeed all of tuscany while staying close to versilia’s fabulous seaside.  Image Courtesy © STUDIÒVO “canticle” offers ample spaces: a 120-square-meter interior subdivided into a living area, two double bedrooms, two baths, a hammam, and an enormous terrace that projects the residence out over the city for (among other things) a splendid 360° view of the lucca city walls and the broad surrounding swathe of green. “we propose furnishings that ‘break’ with the classic context of the historic center,” explain marco vincenzi and andrea caturegli of studiòvo, the designers of the interiors and the terrace, and amerigo giannoni, of officine 3076, the general contractor for the work. “we invested in lighting as a central element and we have given every single item making up the furnishings an identity: decorative, certainly, but also – and above all – functional.”  Image Courtesy © STUDIÒVO  Image Courtesy © STUDIÒVO The lighting project is complex, conceived to offer many options for modulating a great number of lighting parameters to create changing scenarios over the course of the day and in each different space of the home. Even greater care, were that possible, was taken with the furnishings: everything is made to measure! Like the spectacular kitchen, designed by studiòvo, with its surfaces describing an unusual, uninterrupted curve. A masterpiece of expert joinery that put the skills of the officine 3076 craftspeople to the test: they not only built the furniture but were responsible for fitting them, like a hand into a glove, into the unfinished shell of the home. The kitchen also features high-tech professional appliances and is always stocked with a selection of typical, quality local food and wine products to welcome guests’ arrival. The dominant colors are white and dove gray, perfect accompaniments to the materials, which include oak and natural linen for the fabrics and curtains. Each room is equipped with a latest-generation smart tv, manageable via ipad (thanks to a personalized app) from any corner of the home – just like the cable sound system. The two baths communicate through the hamman/shower area, with its bioethanol-fired hearth that sets a contemporary mood.  Image Courtesy © STUDIÒVO  Image Courtesy © STUDIÒVO The terrace, unique in its genre, offers an intriguing view of the tree-studded lucca city walls from three sides and is equipped for total relaxation with a teak solarium and heated infinity-edge minipool with hydromassage and chromotherapy capability. Getting there is easy. Despite its location inside the perimeter of the renaissance walls, the residence is accessible by car via a straightforward urban route. From the underground garage with reserved parking spaces, an elevator takes guests directly to the apartment. Perimeter and volumetric alarm systems, integrated air-conditioning, and in-floor heating are the finishing touches to unique “canticle” residence – for a five-star stay in lucca… THE LIVING AREA Entering the apartment we immediately come across the bright, open living area. The area is equipped with a number of facilities. The climate control installation and the sound system are both integrated into the architecture. The ground source heat pump provides a clean look and better management of the indoor temperature. The state-of-the-art TV is integrated into the sound/video system and managed via iPad (supplied). The system allows for coordinating music throughout the whole house, room by room. The apartment is equipped with wifi internet connection. The dining table may be extended from six to ten places. The extensive shelving units which decorate the area contain everything necessary for a comfortable stay in the apartment. There is also a computer desk and a generous coat stand. THE KITCHEN The kitchen, which is directly connected to the living area, is equipped with professional Miele electrical appliances. The induction cooker, the large refrigerator and the multifunction oven allow for making the best possible use of the area. A washer/dryer and professional ice dispenser are inside a handy walk-in cupboard. A breakfast area, LED TV and wine refrigerator are all part of the decor.The furnishings all have a good capacity. Inside you will find dishes, accessories and utensils, and natural linen table clothes and napkins. Like the living area, the rooms’ lighting systems allow for endless light and shade combinations, creating ever-different atmospheres. Both rooms boast state-of-the-art LED TV, autonomously-manageable sound system, air conditioning and ground source heat pump. Each room is directly connected to the bathrooms, each of which is equipped with a number of comforts and facilities. The main bathroom’s tub area boasts an ethanol fireplace which in addition to creating a fantastic relaxing atmosphere of well being also heats the bathroom area. The hammam, the soul of the two bathrooms, is equipped with a steam generator, essence diffuser, chromotherapy and rainshower, all knowingly finished in Teak, Corian and Resin. Facing onto Lucca’s splendid walls, it offers a marvelous view of both the town’s fortification and the large garden surrounding the building. The 120 M2 exterior is complete with Driade chairs and sofas and a beautiful teak and iron coffee table for 8/10 people. This splendid ambient is set off by a particular lighting system which includes LED lights, stone lights and illuminated tables. THE SERVICES The apartment offers its guests endless services: Cable sound system, state-of-the-art volumetric and perimeter alarm system. Lift exclusively for the apartment (allowing direct access from the garage area to the apartment), private garage with exclusive, reserved parking space. Reserved access directly from the underground car park in Via dei Bacchettoni. An enviable position which despite being inside the city walls is reachable directly by car.
