House M -A Study in White Amongst Books and Art.

This unique residential home was built on a very long and very narrow plot of land at the foot of the Swabian Alb, Southern Germany. The idea of the design by Anna Philipp was to sort the property’s extreme proportions by using three lines: a tree line, a water – and an art line. In turn the art line divides the building into a horizontal public space containing the areas for living, cooking and eating, and a vertical, private area with a library and office providing the family with an opportunity to retreat. The family’s great passion for art and graphic design, which is a central design theme throughout the entire house, gives it its own special expression. Thanks to the professional light planning the entire home is staged by directing both the daylight as well as the artificial light. Therefore the daughter enjoys producing her own works of art sitting at the dining table, underneath the “Zettel-lamp” designed by Ingo Maurer.

The villa stretches over 33 metres and is perfectly integrated on the extremely narrow plot. A water basin and a large terrace are placed infront of the private area. The spacious villa opens to the south. This way it benefits from natural light flooding the interior through huge picture windows. Due to a vertical block the villa appears to be a tower from one side, housing the extensive library which extends over 2 floors. The living area opens thanks to a high void to the top, giving space to an impressive pop-art-graffiti. The fireplace opens to two sides of the interior. Strategically placed skylights maximize the abundant daylight and lead from the entrance to the dining area. The purist staircase in white shows a stunning view of the skylight. A Brazilian natural stone plate adorns the bathroom.

OFFICE PROFILE

Passion for houses

There’s nothing more significant to describe what our architect’s office is about: houses – simple, yet complex. The archetype of all construction is our passion. That’s what we stand for. On this we work holistically with a team of architects and engineers.

Center of our designing is the human being. We understand architecture as a second skin, which must be tailored. At the same time it’s essential to reflect the unique character of the location. The goal is a harmonious triad of mankind, nature and architecture. The focus and specialisation on houses and villas is faced by a wide diversification in the range of services offered.

We not only design the house but also like to take over the responsibility for the entire interior and exterior design. Our regular tasks include the design of furniture, the wellness areas (spa, sauna, jacuzzi, steam bath, solarium, swimming pool, beauty, fitness), the energetic conception, the designer kitchen, landscaping and outdoor facility, lighting design, the home entertainment conception, safety features and equipment, or, last but not least, the issue of healthy living. For the implementation of our design we have a range of proven, outstanding craftsmen and manufacturers at our disposal. Thus, we can also put German quality craft into effect in countries where an appropriate infrastructure is not available. Quality made in Germany for global disposition.
