The charming 100 year old ship has become too small for the owners. In the new design for the boat, we went looking for the qualities which make it special to live on the water and to face ‘the Rijksmunt museum’.
View from inside to outside, but also vice versa are determined in this situation. In the interior the fully height of the boat is experienced through a central core, the stairs are placed around this core. As a result, the rooms are sufficiently separated from each other, while proximity remains sensible.
Because of the voids, there is still mutual contact among the split-lever floor. The facade consists of slats in different width and depths, so that relief is created.
