Article source: equipoolivares arquitectos The massing has been determined by the environmental conditions, plot orientation as well as the internal distribution of the dwellings.
The strong prevailing northeasterly winds and the proximity to the sea define a compact enclosed volume. The dwellings are internally organised around consecutive courtyards and terraces, which are orientated to the southeast ensuring sunlight and a sheltered area. The facade has been designed as a solid massing in which delicates pleats and folds emphasize access points whilst allowing natural light when you enter the building. The louvres of the facade help protect the courtyards and terraces from the wind and overlooking. The dwelling uses are established by the client needs. The green shaded courtyard works as a lobby. As soon as you enter the dwelling, a combined living, dining and kitchen is opened to the internal courtyard. A drying space, a wc and a multi use bedroom are located at ground floor, and a bathroom and two bedrooms at first level. The external configuration of the dwellings create green gardens with low maintenance species along with a mini swimming pool, located in the sunniest area of the plot.
