DuPont Building Innovations has made it a goal to focus on the development of public areas. Recently, DuPont in collaboration with the architectural bureau Nefa Architects and the manufacturing company Smile created the Cloud-charger art object for the Koltsovo airport in Ekaterinburg, Russia. This object is made of high-tech DuPont™ Corian® material in two of the new colors (Deep Nocturne, Deep Titanium) produced with the help of DeepColor™ Technology. Having an unusual design and style, the Cloud also acts as a charging station for mobile devices, a WiFi transmitter and as an airport meeting point to add convenience for passengers. The art object was presented during the Industrial Design forum within the “InnoProm 2015” industrial fair in July 2015 in Ekaterinburg. And on July 13 the Cloud was permanently installed at the Ekaterinburg airport domestic flights waiting area. Alexey Piskunov, the Managing Director of Koltsovo Airport noted: “We always support unusual ideas for developing the airport areas and we hope that the new art object will perfectly fit in the Koltsovo space. I am sure that our passengers will gladly be using the Cloud-charger and will also be taking their photos in front of this distinctive work of art.” As Dmitry Ovcharov, the Chief Architect of Nefa Architects studio, who also developed other interior design projects for Koltsovo airport, comments: “The main idea for design of the charger came from the child’s pencil drawing of the cloud. When we saw the new DuPont™ Corian® colours (deep graphite and the storm cloud) from the new DeepColor™ Technology collection, we realized that this would be the ideal material for incorporating the design idea. The charge, after being accumulated in the cloud, transforms into the bright lightning bolts made of DuPont™ Corian® Glacier Ice translucent and light-projecting material. You just put the mobile phone on the shelf, connect it, and it starts charging!” “Within the Endless Evolution concept DuPont developed the innovative DeepColor™ Technology which brings the deep and rich color to DuPont™ Corian® material and allows to fulfill even the most complicated design ideas,” says Fuad Mammadov, BI Marketing Manager Eastern Europe. DuPont, NefaArchitects and Smile plan to further develop their partnership with the aim of creating more unique, high-quality functional objects for city infrastructure. Contact Nefa Architects
