Article source: Nash Baker Architects The Old Hall in Suffolk is a complex restoration project by Nash Baker Architects involving a 16th Century oak-framed hall house with many later alterations and additions. Originally constructed in the 16th Century for a local merchant, this historic hall house was converted into several cottages around 1800. Unsympathetic alterations and extension during the 1960’s and 1970’s have been reversed or remodeled to re-unite the building as a single house.
The scheme blends crisp contemporary design and living with the charm and irregularity of the original medieval timber frame structure. The job involved a full architectural and interior design service. The Old Hall project also received a RIBA Craftsmanship Award. Contact Nash Baker Architects
