Article source: Hi-Tech CADD Services An environmental consultant had to assess a site and provide a plan to the client for retaining wall design meant to block the flood water from a nearby river from entering the site.
Some old hand drawn sketches of a retaining wall structure and a PPT with landscaping plans, was all that was provided. Improvising the basic design and preparing a well rendered 3D model, to facilitate the consultant to give final presentation of the design to the client, was the task. Challenges There was only one hand made sketch. There were no dimension or any other input from the client. There was only conference call and e-mail communication. A lot of brain storming sessions were done. The project was done based on only client’s explanation about his vision. As there were no plans, elevation, any cad files, there was a lot of revisions. It was our first experience in making retaining wall. Execution The design that he client sent was from 2008. Client wanted a new design. Client wanted to extend the useful area towards the flood plain of the river by building a retaining wallA basic & rough sketch of retaining wall was provided. The following were to be incorporated into the model: A massive retaining wall extending into the valley. The wall to have terraces. Trees and shrubs planted in the terraces. The trees and shrubs ultimately covering the wall so that the whole wall looks like a natural bluff covered with trees, plants and shrubs. Stairs leading to the terraces and narrow walkways along the terraces. The property developed with 7-8 family homes. A swimming pool at the edge of the property next to the retaining wall. Subterranean garage under the flat ground surface of the property. As there were no plans, a lot of revisions took place. Contact Hi-Tech CADD Services
