Article source: nicolagdesign The Birrificio di Legnano regeneration project by Nicola Ghilardi (www.nicolagdesign.it), young Architect from the same town specialized in business premises design and realisation, is a careful design based upon chromatic sensitivity with a mindful awareness to finding the right balance between the old and the new.
By utilizing contemporary building materials, the project has reinterpreted, as a whole, the current modern architectural settlement rules fully respecting at the same time the place industrial heritage by blending together structural and decorative details. The place chosen by NICOLA G DESIGN is part of the former Tessitura Bernocchi (Bernocchi Weaving Factory), rare and beautiful example of industrial architecture at the beginning of the 20th century. The building regenerated has been divided into two parts: one devoted to beer brewing activities and the other allocated to the commercial premises, open to the public, where to taste the craft beers, sitting around the big horse shoe counter, or on coarse tables with chairs inspired and designed as industrial molds and quite a few restored working countertops. The outside, where the historical architecture creates an evocative and appealing surrounding, is of great charm: the old brick façade reflects itself in the pool laid just under the building. Another important point about the design concept is the visual participation of the customers to the beer productive process. For this reason, it has been provided a glass wall opening, between the production and the vending zones, designed and realized following the typical period characteristics using a drop forged frame.
