Article source: Carquero Arquitectura This plot which faces north has a narrow front in comparison to the rear of the site, therefore the brief has placed the main priority on seeking natural light. It is located within the urban fabric of this18th century village. The blocks follow a 100×200 ft grid and are characterized by adapting to the abrupt topography and by the equitable internal distribution of the homes.  Image Courtesy © Mariano Copete Franco
 Image Courtesy © Mariano Copete Franco The brief consists of two floors and an attic, placing the day areas on the first floor and the night areas on the remaining levels. This first floor uses the central stair core to articulate the living room and the kitchendining room which opens onto an internal courtyard.  Image Courtesy © Mariano Copete Franco  Image Courtesy © Mariano Copete Franco On the attic level, with a section of sloped roof, a study opens onto the terrace which becomes a solarium, causing the silhouette of the second floor to extend into the courtyard and highlight its volume. The home has a central circulation core which, through the above-mentioned sloped roof, brings natural light into the house, flooding the walkways which structure the brief. The daytime area opens onto the rear courtyard which, bathed by the warm sun from the south, becomes the heart of the home. On the roof we find a solar collection system for heating the home. The roof is clad with traditional ceramic tiles, as established by the building code, and in the openings, materials like dark grey anodized aluminum with small stainless steel details are used.
