Conceived as finely detailed, wafer-thin,open-ended concrete tubes floating over strong rusticated bases, the large cantilevers provide shadeand encourage an indoor/outdoor way of life by harnessing the cooling meltemibreeze that prevails during the summer months. The Living, Dining and Kitchen functions share this space and are related closely with the gardens behind and the open view to the West. To bring light and air into the lower floors, an open shaft has been cut through all three levels. Framing an ornamental tree, this feature serves the added purpose as a focal point of reference to the interiors.

On these lower levels bedrooms and home entertainment functions prevail. Opening though wide glazed doors directly to the pool deck and surrounding gardens where the landscaping takes inspiration from the natural flora of the site. Olive and hollyoak trees are used extensively andpunctuated by the verticality of cypresses. Oleander, bougainvillea and jasmine provide texture and accent to the ground cover with fragrance being added with rosemary and lavender.

The developer’s desire to create a unique and sophisticated enclave has been sensitively addressed through restraint in all aspects of the design. Indoor and outdoor space integrates seamlessly and a limited palette of textures and materials enhance the sense of space.
