Article source: Hochstrasser Architekten Concept Rail line connecting cities folded shape of the building is an abstract representation of the geographical interconnection between ulm and other european metropolitan centres. the expressive, illuminated skin marks the public realm at the front of the station.
Use exhibition Neutral layout enables many different uses. display system features information boards fixed to rotating poles, mounted invisibly within the ceiling. bespoke furniture made from black mdf. seating mimics the building’s shape. Construction material Walls and ceiling constructed from solid timber elements. entire body is supported on four steel feet and appears to float on glass. glazing is recessed into the paving slabs that continue into the building. externally fixed aluminium profiles form large triangular fields, which are individually spanned with a pvc membrane. the void between the membrane is illuminated with long-life fluorescent lighting two air conditioning units heat the building in winter and cool it in summer.
